All residents of Sewall Hall are required to take one 3-credit course in fall, one 3-credit course in spring, and SEWL 2020 for one credit in either fall or spring. Most Sewall RAP courses fulfill core requirements for the College of Arts and Sciences. RAP courses are identical in content to the same class taught outside of Sewall, with the class size limited to 18 students.
New freshmen must first apply for the Sewall Residential Academic Program (RAP) on their Housing Reservation form. A registration packet is mailed to all freshmen accepted as residents of Sewall Hall during the first week of May. The registration packet consists of a welcome letter, RAP contract, and a complete list of fall courses.
Students may mail, fax, or email their RAP contracts with their course requests to the program administrator. Seats in RAP classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Students are encouraged to attend one of the summer orientation sessions at which time they will receive detailed information about the program and confirmation of their RAP class(es). If students need to change their Sewall RAP class after meeting with their assigned academic advisor, every effort is made to accommodate this request either after orientation or during drop/add the first week of classes.
